Turkish Gold coins harken back to the days of the Ottoman Empire, which encompassed much of the Arabian peninsula prior to its break-up in the aftermath of World War I. These historic coins contain beautiful calligraphy!
Obverse: The center of the coin depicts Tugra. This is a calligraphic monogram of the Ottoman Turkish Sultan. The signature is surrounded by laurel twigs and torches, a symbol of victory and honor. Above, seven stars sign on the signature. Reverse: The monogram on the central part of the coin is surrounded by a laurel wreath. At the top of the coin are minted stars and in the bottom year of the coin.
